If you’re chasing the endless summer, head to the Northern Territory, Southeast Queensland, or Western Australia for those warmer days. With school holidays happening in Autumn, it’s a great time to get away with the family and go see some spectacular destinations.
Every state during Autumn has some stunning locations to visit, so we have compiled a list of the perfect places to travel this Autumn.
ORANGE, NSW
Orange is home to great wine, great food, and an inviting, relaxed lifestyle. Take a drive through the colourful town and make note of the many cafes and restaurants to visit later. Once you have made camp at one of the local caravan parks, take a stroll through the neighbourhood and find your way onto one of the many picturesque walks scattered around Orange, including the Orange Heritage Trail. Finish off your day of relaxation at one of the pubs found around town, indulge in the local wine, and soak up the gorgeous atmosphere this country town has to offer.
clare valley, sa
Just north of Adelaide towards Port Augusta sits Clare Valley, the next destination on our list. Clare Valley is the perfect destination for foodies. With fine wine flowing generously and an abundance of amazing food and stunning views, the quaint Clare Valley will not disappoint.
There’s no shortage of caravan parks in Clare Valley, choose to be tucked away in the beautiful farmlands or set up right near the wine region. The northern territory
Many people probably identify Winter as the best time to visit the red centre, however, we suggest taking a trip in Autumn to beat that high drop in temperature once night falls. Travelling in Autumn brings the best of both worlds, with warm days and cool nights. Home to some amazing national parks, the Northern Territory will not disappoint when it comes to stunning landscapes and nature. Become immersed in the true Aussie outback by camping in national parks, but be sure to do your research beforehand.

The seaside town of Strahan is one of Tassies best-kept secrets. A gorgeous and quaint town to visit, acting as the gateway to the South-West wilderness, Strahan holds a place in many people’s hearts as a favourite place to adventure during the Autumn months. Drive into the beachside caravan parks and hop on a cruise across to Bonnet Island to see penguins frolicking at dusk, or travel up to Hogarth Falls for a bush walk.

Bright is known as the gateway to the Victorian high country, nestled in a picturesque valley lined with gorgeous mountains and an array of hikes, Bright is a truly stunning place. Take your MDC to one of the best places to experience Victorian Autumn, the summit of Mount Buffalo, which hosts an incredible view of this gorgeous location. Get the lay of the land and stroll along the river, later pop into the Bright Brewery and watch the sunset over the mountains with a local bevy in your hands. If remote locations are what you’re chasing this Autumn, look no further than The Kimberly. This scenic region boasts hot springs, waterfalls, and ancient Aboriginal rock paintings. Autumn is the dry season, and nights can become close to freezing, so be sure to reserve a powered site if you want to beat the chill. The Kimberly has many activities to offer for the adventure seeker, plan your epic 4WD adventures or ride a camel on the coast. There’s no shortage of activities to do this autumn in WA.

Being a popular tourist spot, the Gold Coast is well known for its sandy beaches, vibrant nightlife, and fun-filled holiday parks. But drive inland from the beach and the Gold Coast hinterland has so much more to offer. Here lies Springbrook national park, where there are a multitude of beautiful hikes and walks to choose from, suited to any experience level, the whole family can enjoy a day out at Springbrook. There are also waterfalls to swim in and an abundance of wildlife to observe. This place has it all. If spas and golf courses are more your thing, head back to the coast and find the perfect one for you!
