What is the Mundi Mundi Bash?
The Mundi Mundi Bash is one of Australia’s most iconic outback music festival, set against the stunning backdrop of the Mundi Mundi Plains near Broken Hill, NSW. This one-of-a-kind event brings together music lovers from all over the country for three days of world-class entertainment, outback activities, and an unbeatable festival atmosphere.
With a lineup featuring some of Australia’s best rock and country artists, plus fun-filled activities like the Mundi Mundi Run, morning yoga, scenic heli flights & camel rides, big screen movies and World Record attempts (fun fact; the Mundi Mundi Bash currently holds the World Record for most people doing the nutbush with 6,594 boot-scooters at the 2023 Bash!), there’s never a dull moment. It’s a chance to escape the everyday and immerse yourself in a truly unique adventure.
The Essentials of Off-Grid Travel
Since the Mundi Mundi Bash is a remote outback event, you’ll need to be well-prepared. Here’s a list of a few must-haves to make your festival experience smooth and enjoyable:
Essentials:
- Tickets & Wristbands – You won’t get in without them!
- Camping Set Up – Travelling with an MDC of course, we have you covered for off-road adventures.
- Clothing – Be ready for anything. The average temp range for August is around 7 degrees to 18 degrees, however you can experience warm days & very chilly nights. Pack layers, a hat, comfy shoes, and wet weather gear (touch wood, not needed).
- Food & Drinks – There are food vendors, but it’s always good to have your own supplies. It is a BYO event with no alcohol available for purchase at the festival. Drinking water is also not available so stock up before arriving
- Water – Drinking water is not available at Mundiville so stock up before arriving (or may purchase from vendors)
- First Aid Kit – Always a must for any outback trip. A comprehensive medical facility is also available on site
- Toiletries & Sunscreen – Keep yourself fresh and sun-protected. Face/baby wipes are always good to have available in your van
- Camping Chair – Perfect for sitting by the fire or soaking in the tunes in the concert area.
- Cash & Card – Some vendors may have limited EFTPOS access.
- Camera & Power Bank – Capture the memories and keep your devices charged.
What to See in the Area
While you’re in the region, why not take the time to explore some of the incredible sights nearby?
Broken Hill – Known as the ‘Silver City,’ Broken Hill is rich in history, art, and culture. Visit the Pro Hart Gallery, the Line of Lode Lookout, and enjoy a meal at a classic outback pub.
Silverton – This quirky historic town is famous for being the filming location of Mad Max 2. Visit the Silverton Hotel, the Mad Max Museum, and check out local art galleries.
Mundi Mundi Lookout – Just a short drive from Silverton, this lookout offers breathtaking views of the vast, open plains. The sunsets here are legendary.
Menindee Lakes – If you have extra time, take a detour to the stunning Menindee Lakes for some incredible outback scenery and wildlife spotting.
