north stradbroke island
North Straddie is the perfect place for all things adventure. Camping, beach fishing, surfing, and 4X4 driving are only some of the activities that Dad can enjoy this Father’s Day. Home to over 100 freshwater lakes and wetlands, crystal clear beaches, and breathtaking natural environments, North Straddie is the perfect location for a Dad’s day trip. For a more relaxed stay, there are 6 main township campgrounds located on the island that are fully equipped with amenities and cooking facilities, or Dad might prefer to really rough it and venture out via 4×4 to Flinders Beach or Main Beach where there are no facilities, just him and the great outdoors. Our range of offroad camper trailers and caravans have all the equipment needed for Dad to enjoy nature with all the comforts of home. Located on Brisbane’s doorstep, Straddie is an easy 45-minute ferry ride away. Check out our Stradbroke Island blog here for more information.
CAPE YORK
Accessible by 4×4 only, Cape York is an outdoorsy Dads dream. Situated in Far North Queensland, Cape York is famous for its pristine beaches, remote landscapes, bountiful fish-rich waterways, and of course the 4WD tracks. For Dads who crave adventure in the great outdoors, the iconic Telegraph Track just begs to be explored. This is one of the most challenging 4×4 tracks that the MDC team has come across, and it is sure to keep Dad as giddy as a schoolgirl as he conquers the rugged terrain. If fishing is what Dad is looking for this weekend, he will be spoilt for choice as Cape York is littered with natural fishing spots and waterfalls, full of catch for when Dad is eager to cast a line. Father’s Day is the ideal time to take a trip to the tip, as the weather is still remotely cool and school holidays have not yet started.
Mount Mee, D’Aguilar National Park
D’Aguilar National Park offers some of the best 4WD tracks just an hour’s drive from the Brisbane CBD. With its lush tropical rainforests, waterfalls, and scenic views of the Moreton Bay region, Mount Mee is the perfect location for an adventure expedition this Father’s Day. Mount Mee offers a variety of driving tracks suited to all skill levels, meaning that Dad can choose to cruise through the scenic mountain roads, or brave the rugged bushland trails. Mount Mee also hosts a number of picturesque walking trails and campsites. Camp at Neurum Creek Campground nestled amongst the eucalyptus trees on the eastern side of Mount Mee and swim in the nearby waterhole. Or stay at Archer Campground and take Dad on a hike to Falls Lookout for a fantastic view of the Neurum Valley. All in all, Mt Mee has plenty of activities to choose from that will keep Dad happy this Father’s Day.
